ALLEN, EdwinAge 92 of Franklin, TN, formerly of the Caney Spring Community of Marshall County. Died Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Franklin. Mr. Allen was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late William George and Lennie Johnson Allen. He was a graduate of Forrest School Class of 1938 and a life long member of Caney Spring United Methodist Church. He was a prominent dairy farmer, was very active in community and civic affairs having been a life member and past President of the Chapel Hill Lions Club, where he was a Melvin Jones Award recipient, served as a Director for Duck River Electric Cooperative, Director of Upper Duck River Development Assoc., Director and Chairman of Select Sires, a director of Alabama Milk Producers, Chairman of Marshall County Equalization Board, Director and Chairman of the Marshall County Farm Bureau, and a member of the Marshall County Laymen's Club. Mr. Allen was also a life long member of the Marshall County Democratic Party and served as a member of the 1971 Tennessee Constitutional Convention. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Bush Allen; a son, Alex Allen; grandson, Hunter Raquet; sister, Sara Neill, and a brother, Bill Allen. Mr. Allen is survived by daughters, Carol (Charles) Bond, Bethesda Community, Nancy (Oliver) Brown, Franklin, TN, Margaret Campbell, Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Jewell, Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Debbie Allen, Caney Spring Community; sister, Frances Harrell, Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Susan Brown, Franklin, TN, Melissa (Chris) Ayers, Cypress, TX; Allen (Marijo) Bond, Bethesda Community, Robert (Maureen) Bond, Bethesda Community, Melinda Carbone, Jacksonville, FL, Lennie (Rocky) Tradd, Kingsland, GA, John Daniel (Lindsey) Allen, Caney Spring Community, Cannon (Lucretia) Allen, Caney Spring Community, Sara (Brian) Fuller, Lewisburg, TN, Christopher Raquet, Franklin, TN; thirteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Family members will also receive friends on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Caney Spring United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church with Rev. George Jones and Rev. Steven Christopher officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery in the Caney Spring Community. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
