TRENTON - Edward "Bud" Thomas, 84, of Trenton, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Royal Health Gate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born in Sayreville, Texas, Mr. Thomas was a resident of the Trenton area for over 50 years. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in November 1944 and was honorably discharged June 1952 as a master sergeant.He was employed by Howard Johnson in Lawrenceville, Waterbury Products (Hightstown). He owned and operated "Tom's Taxi" and also was a contract carrier for Helene Fuld Medical Center.He was a member of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served as an usher, trustee and then as a deacon.Predeceased by two wives, Mary Thomas and Clara Dale Thomas, his parents, Leslie "Less" and Hattie Thomas, a brother, Kermit Thomas, and two sisters, Evelyn Piper and Dorothy Spencer, surviving are six children, Donald Thomas (Dora), Evelyn Gooden (A. Gaines), Dorothy Perry (Mack), Anthony Thomas (Beatrice), Bishop David C. Thomas Sr. (Stephanie) all of Trenton and Lorraine Bryant of Columbus, Ga.; four sisters, Nellie Charleston (Rev. Cube) of Prairie View, Texas, Jessie Lewis of Elgin, Texas, Ada Westbrook of San Antonio, Texas and Thelma Moore (Deacon Irvin) of Burlington; 20 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 26)at Wayne Avenue Baptist Church, 30 Wayne Ave., Trenton. Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be Monday (Nov. 29) at 10 a.m. at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
