Edward J. Nugent -->Edward J. Nugent, of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, passed away Aug. 19, 2013, after a long illness, at the age of 79. Born in Boston, Edward graduated from Dorchester High School. Soon after high school Edward entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War. For many years, Edward owned his own bread route for Pepperidge Farms, where he would supply and maintain the shelves for many markets along the South Shore. In his free time, he was an avid bridge player and excelled as a candlepin bowler. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Murphy) Nugent, whom he was married to for 58 years; son of the late Edward and Kathleen Nugent; brother of the late Thomas Nugent. Also survived by 13 nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Aud. 22, at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. Visiting hours were Wednesday 4-7 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
