WHALEN , Edith Catharine August 22, 1922 - April 16, 2010 Edith Whalen, beloved wife of the late Donald R. Whalen of Calgary and much loved mother of Lindsay, Cathy, Sandra, Don Jr., Barbara, Virginia, Michael and Kelly; cherished grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of four, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2010 at the age of 87. An accomplished and creative woman with many talents (University of Toronto - Fine Arts - Interior Design), Edith felt that her greatest achievement in life was the family she created and the legacy of love she left with them. A "Grand Lady" in the classic style who touched so many lives with her strength and wisdom, our mom will be remembered with love by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Extendicare Cedars Villa for their kindness and compassionate care of their "Steel Magnolia" over the last three years.
