-> Edith Redding Wheeler, 74, of Savannah, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Emanuel County and was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 38 years of service, as Assistant Manager of the Business Office. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church, the Choir, former Chairman of the Administrative Board, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Adult Sunday School Class, the Finance Committee, and the UMW. She was a big worker in the annual church barbecue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Melvin Wheeler and was the daughter of the late Reynolds A. Redding and Blossie Meadows Redding. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin Douglas Wheeler and Kathy OBerry Wheeler, Steven Wayne Wheeler, Sr. and Loretta Sumner Wheeler, Jeffrey Alexander Wheeler, Sr. and Rita Jones Wheeler, all of Savannah; brother, Bobby Redding of Savannah; nine grandchildren, Rhonda Bennett, Donna Vinson, Rebecca Morris, Stephanie Wheeler, Michelle Richardson, Melissa Wheeler, Jeffery A. Wheeler, Jr., Steven W. Wheeler, Jr., Nicholas Wheeler; eleven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home - Hodgson Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services: 2:30 p.m., Thursday in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home- Hodgson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lois Caster officiating. Burial: Lower Black Creek Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Telephone Pioneers Club and the Adult Sunday School Class of Wildwood United Methodist Church.
