->NEWPORT - Earl J. O'Farrell, 85, died unexpectedly Aug. 21, 2013, at a Bangor hospital, after a short period of ill health. He was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Bangor, the son of John and Lydia (White) O'Farrell. He attended Newport High School. He married Betty E. Cook March 29, 1949, in Newport.Earl was a World War II Navy veteran. For over 20 years Earl worked at Guilford Industries in Newport as a supervisor of the "Blending Dept." Over the years he also worked as a milkman for Lakeview Dairy in Newport for several years, and also part time as a TV repairman. He was always a hard worker.Earl and Betty attended High Street Congregational Church in Newport for many years. He was a member of the Barrows Skidgel American Legion Post 105 in Newport.Earl was an accomplished golfer and loved to play. At one time he was the Club Champion at the Sebasticook Golf Club in Newport. He loved to bowl and was a former Eastern Maine Senior Bowling Champion.Earl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty E. O'Farrell of Newport; one son and his wife, Clifford E. and Trudy O'Farrell of Turner; one daughter and her husband, April and Billy Boulier of Palmyra; one sister, Elva Mary Wall of Sidney, Nova Scotia; three grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda and Kimberly; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford.Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating, with graveside dedication by his son-in-law, Billy Boulier.Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, Newport.
