PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Douglas Bruce James, 62, formerly of Manchester, N.H., passed away at his home on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. He was born on Dec. 24, 1950, in Johnstown, Pa., to William and Shirley James. Being raised in a military family, he attended schools in several parts of the world. He graduated from Winthrop High School, Winthrop, Mass., in 1968 after attending four different high schools in his senior year. He went on to attend Northeastern University, Boston, where he studied business administration and graduated with a ROTC scholarship. He served in the Army as a first lieutenant until 1977, after which he remained in Germany and sold commodities to the commissaries in Europe. When he returned to the States, he became an entrepreneur. He also enjoyed working at the computer, talking on the telephone which was a like an extension of his arm and, most of all, reaching out to the homeless. He lived for many years in Manchester, N.H. Douglas is survived by his mother, Shirley James of Weare; a son, Robert, in Germany from his first marriage; and two daughters from his second marriage, Jessica in Okinawa, Japan, and Danielle in Massachusetts. He is also survived by his brother, William and his children in California, and many cousins. . services: There will be no calling hours. Douglas's life will be celebrated with the service of Christian burial on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 118 Centre Road, Weare, N.H. A reception will follow in the undercroft. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church.
