PARK, Douglas Andrew Fleming 1917 - 2012 It is with much love and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Douglas, our beloved father and grandfather. He passed away peacefully in Alpine Meadows at Delta View Centre on Friday, January 6, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret and son Norman. Douglas will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Marilynn, son-in-law Bob, daughter-in-law Shelagh and grandchildren Evan, Jennifer and Katharine. Douglas was born in Penticton, BC and lived in Vancouver, England, Germany, Cold Lake, AB and North Bay, Ont. During WW II Douglas flew the Short Sunderland marine patrol aircraft in protection of the North Atlantic from German U-Boats. After the war Douglas returned to the RCAF as an aircraft technician and would serve a total of 29 years in the Canadian Forces. Douglas had a great passion for music and could play many instruments. His mastery of the Scottish Bagpipes gave him the opportunity to play in the RCAF band. A special thanks to all the staff at Alpine Meadows for the loving care and attention given to Douglas over the past 5 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Canadian Diabetes Assoc, 522 University Avenue #1400, Toronto, Ontario M5G 2R5, 1 (800) 226-8464. ""We will miss this very gentle and loving man.""
