Avis de décès de Dorothy Reid

REID _ Dorothy (Dot) Madeline (Smith). Born 1923, daughter of Brenton J. Smith and Mildred S. Taggart. Her mother died when Dot was four and her second mother died when she was eleven. Brent was a farmer and father of 15 children. Dot was brought up during the depression aware that being a member of a farmer's family meant seldom knowing hunger and so was relatively well off. A knowledge at thriftiness was passed on to her eight children much to the chagrin of their mates. Dorothy passed on as well the virtues of honesty, fairness and the value of true friendship to her children. After educating them and at the age of 53, she moved to B. C. where in a 26 year period she developed new friendships that enriched her life and the lives of others. As she grew older her children and grandchildren brought 25 new lives onto the Canadian landscape. She decided, that indeed, it was time to come home; not for a long time but for a good time. Her favorite saying was "gee it's good to be home again." We are going to miss her but it sure was nice knowing and learning from her. Lester, Cheryl, Terry, Gary, Darla, Kim, Cathy and Gail. A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Anglican Church at Porters Lake Saturday April 12 at 11:00. Family flowers only. Memorial donations should be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home, 24 Queen St.
