ABBOTT, Donald Walter - peacefully, at his Simcoe home in his 72nd year on Wednesday, December 10th, 2008. Loved by his wife of almost 50 years, Vera (nee Smith). Proud father of Valerie Abbott of Paris, and Joanne Arnel and her husband Jonathan of Tillsonburg, and son-in-law Gary Mitchell of Paris. Adored papa of Brent and Bryan Mitchell and Kevin and Kristen Arnel. Predeceased by his parents Ruby Dell and Percy Abbott. Survived by sister Jean Chandler and her husband David of Regina, Saskatchewan. Don was born in Simcoe and farmed in the Oakland area. He enjoyed his working retirement travelling the countryside in his 18-wheeler, which transferred into a joy for RVing with his navigator, Vera. Don was an avid fan of his grandchildren's sports and activities as well as community suppers. Don had a signature giggle which was heard often as he enjoyed social gatherings of all kinds. At Don's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Cremation with a private family committal of ashes will take place.
