THOMSON _ Donald Eastwood (Don) Don was born on April 29, 1927 in Kincardine, Ontario and passed away on December 14, 2006 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. He is survived by Julie, his adored wife of eighteen years; his children, Rick (Allyne), Ron (Shelly), Randy, Marney (Gary) and David (Heather); eight grandchildren and his stepchildren, Derek, Wade (Karen) and Tracy. He was predeceased by one grandson, Clayton in 2004. After serving in the Canadian Navy, Don entered the construction business, where he worked for forty-five years in various management positions in Ontario and later in Calgary, Alberta. On his retirement, he and Julie fulfilled a dream, building their home on Okanagan Lake at Carrs Landing. Don enjoyed many hobbies which kept him involved with his children, grandchildren and friends - among them, sailing, boating, waterskiing, woodworking and golf. Don's big grin and cheerful personality were welcomed wherever he went...serving on the Board of St. David's Presbyterian Church, golfing at Aspen Grove Golf Course, acting as MC at many local charitable events or working with the Kinsmen's Association in Calgary, Alberta. Don will be missed by his many friends and associates. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at Woodcliff United Church, 5010 Spruce Drive S.W., December 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Don to St. David's Presbyterian Church, 271 Glenmore Road, Kelowna, B.C., V1V 1V6.
