A member of First Presbyterian Church in Binghamton for over 50 years, he held a number of positions with the church and volunteered his time to many church projects. Don was also an active member of the Johnson City Rotary Club. An avid golfer, he was extremely proud of the hole-in-one he got on March 4, 1996. Known affectionately as "Arnie" by his golfing buddies, Don enjoyed participating in several golf leagues over the years at Chenango Valley State Park. He was also a devoted gardener, photographer, and traveler. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of South Tower Five at Wilson Hospital and the staff of Lourdes Hospice, especially Dixy, Cindy, and Sarah, for their kind and compassionate care. Don was a wonderfully kind and gentle man who was much beloved by his family and many friends. His warm spirit, delightful sense of humor, love of life, and devotion to his family will be remembered by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango Street, Binghamton, on Wednesday, October 3, at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening, October 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and preceding the memorial service on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. A private family burial will take place at Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, N.Y.
