David Wayne Park Rensselaer/Old Forge, NY David Wayne Park, 31, of Rensselaer and formerly of Old Forge, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Buffalo. He was born on December 21, 1978, in Oneida, NY, a son of Stephen and Janice (Giddings) Park. He was a 1997 graduate of the Town of Webb Schools, where he was a straight A student and an incredible athlete. He continued his education at LeMoyne College, and then graduating from Geneseo in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education, he furthered his education with a Masters Degree in Education from Albany State University. On August 2, 2008, he married Deanna Ripstein. Although married for a year and a half, this relationship was filled with much love, devotion and mutual respect for each other. After graduating from Geneseo, David returned to his beloved alma mater to substitute teach. About six years ago, he moved to Albany and began substitute teaching at Albany High School. He was an outstanding substitute teacher and was constantly requested by everyone at AHS because he went above and beyond the call of duty. Four years ago, he began teaching 5th grade at Arbor Hill Elementary School in Albany, where he loved his school, co-workers and most of all his students. He also coached Little League at Krank Park in the City of Albany for the past several years and also coached basketball at Arbor Hill Elementary School. David was inducted into the Albany City School Districts Founders Day organization, where you are chosen by the community and the school based on your volunteerism and community work efforts. David loved teaching children; he lived and breathed it. He loved being able to help his students and their families in any way he could; he simply loved life. He will be terribly missed by all whose lives he touched, and we are all lucky to have known him. He is survived by his wife, Deanna Park, of Rensselaer, NY; his parents, Stephen and Janice Park, of Old Forge, NY; his siblings, Donna Schudel and her husband, Michael, of Rochester, NY, Donald Park, of Old Forge, NY, and Stephanie Garcia Galagarza and her husband, Elvis, of Albany, NY; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Giddings, of Oriskany, NY; nieces and nephews, Sofia Garcia Galagarza, Ivy Park, and Matthew and Daniel Schudel; his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Susan Ripstein, of East Amherst, NY; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Melanie and Chris Pensinger, of Atlanta, GA, and their children, Ryan and Zachary Pensinger, and Heather and Jason Bonenfant, of Rochester, NY, and their children, Lauren and Ashley Bonenfant. He also leaves several aunts and uncles, and several cousins, including a special cousin who was like a brother to him, Mark Schmidt. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge, with Rev. Lawrence Bartel officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 128 Fern Ave., in Old Forge. There will also be a memorial service on Monday, April 5th, at 6:00 PM at St. James Church in Albany, located at 391 Delaware Ave. For those who wish, please consider donations to the Albany Police Athletic League, PO Box 6516, Albany, NY 12206 or the Town of Webb Schools, David Park Baseball Scholarship Fund, c/o Janet Schmidt, 8730 Lake Rd., Canastota, NY 13032.
