Avis de décès de David-Henry Lawrence


Rev. David Henry Lawrence, son of Henry Lawrence and Roxie (Perrine) Lawrence was born at home on Florida Street in Springfield, Missouri, on April 17, 1930. He was a 1949 graduate of Willard High School and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After being activated from the local Marine Corps Reserve unit, he participated in combat action in Korea as a Corporal with a Mortar Platoon in Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Later he attended the inaugural class of 1955 at Evangel University where he met and married Lydell Wheat on September 1, 1956. For the next 19 years, David worked as a high school teacher in History, English and Spanish, and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1963. During this time in his life, David felt a calling into ministry and received credentials with the Assemblies of God in 1971. He entered full-time ministry after being ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1975, and served as a church planter and pastor for the next 30 years in Utah, Oklahoma, and Missouri, before retiring here in Springfield. He entered his eternal rest on Monday, July 7, 2008, with his family by his side. David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Richard; his sister Ruth; as well as by his wife, Lydell. He is survived by his brother, Bob Lawrence of Fort Mill, S.C.; his sister, Bea Matson of East Granby, Conn.; his three children, Mark Lawrence of Tulsa, Okla., Rev. Wade Lawrence of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rev. Ruth Anger of Springfield, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Mo., with services to follow at 12:30 p.m., with Dr. James Bradford officiating. Interment at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, Mo., will follow at 2 p.m., with full military honors given by the Marines of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division as well as the Marine Veterans of Detachment #993 of the Marine Corps League, Chaplain Raymond Glynn officiating. Family request donations be made to the Children's Ministry of Central Assembly, 1301 N. Boonville, Springfield, MO 65802 in Rev. Lawrence's name.
