Avis de décès de David-Elwood-Dow Carr


DAVID E. CARR David Elwood Dow Carr, 75, of Harrisonburg, Va., passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at the V.A. Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va. Mr. Carr was born Oct. 24, 1930 in Genoa, Va., and was a son of the late David Daniel and Bertha Phillips Carr. He was a watch-maker, farmer, logger, and mechanic. Mr. Carr also was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the army from 1950-53. Mr. Carr lived in Canada for 28 years from 1974-2002 with his family, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. On Nov. 5, 1955, Mr. Carr was married to the former Colleen (Dolly) Gushong, who survives. He also is survived by three sons, Daniel Dow Carr of International Falls, Mn., Gerald Lynn Carr and wife, Janet, of Barwick, Ont., and Sgt. Marlin Duane Carr of Emo, Ont.; four daughters, Bonnie Sue Byler and husband, Edward, of Warsaw, Mo., Cynthia Dawn King and husband, Charles, of Allensville, Pa., Deborah Ellen Weaver and husband, James, of Weyers Cave, and Miriam Ann Showalter and husband, Marlan, of Dayton; and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Ogretta C. Lloyd and husband, Roy, of Singers Glen, Willie C. Moyers and husband, Harold, of Linville, Janet C. Lindamood of Strasburg, and Carolyn C. Lincoln and husband, Ernest, of Harrisonburg; and three brothers, Ray O. Carr and wife, Geraldine, C. Warren and wife, Virginia, and Dennis Carr and wife, Sherrie, all of Linville. Mr. Carr was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Jean Carr and Martha Joyce Carr. Pastor Harold Emswiler conducted a funeral service on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial followed at Mount Zion Cemetery. The family received friends Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 from 7-8 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. In memoriam donations may be made to the American Red Cross for the Katrina Fund, Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Chapter, 21 Southgate Court, Suite 102, Harrisonburg, Va., 22801.
