David Albert Wintersformerly of Wilmington, MA. Jan. 13, 1949 - Dec. 15, 2014 SANTA CRUZ, CA. -- David Albert Winters, Jan. 13, 1949 - Dec. 15, 2014. Born in Boston, David grew up in Wilmington.David was an accomplished musician, and worked on behalf of peace and social justice. David contributed instructional pieces to Acoustic Guitar Magazine, to Guitar Player Magazine and to Complete Guitarist. His acclaimed book, Natural and Artificial Harmonics for the Guitar, is a contribution to the field of harmonic theory and technique. David served as Festival Coordinator for the Western Worker's Labor Heritage Festival. He was a member and past officer of the AFM Local 153 musician's union. David served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Santa Cruz Central Labor Council. At Cabrillo College, David tutored Math and was Choir Director at the Stroke And Disability Learning Center.David is survived by his beloved life partner, Merritt Tucker, and his cherished children, daughter Zoe Winters of NY,New York, son Bailey and Bailey's partner Missy of Portland, OR, his siblings: Jack and Linda Winters of Lee, MA, Marcia and Timothy Strob of Billerica, Susan and Michael Gionfriddo of Milton, Atty. Patricia and William Meuse of Tewksbury and Dr. Paula Winters and James Buechler of Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Mark and Charles Tucker; and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late John and Ethel Winters of Wilmington, MA. WINTERS -- A Mass of Remembrance will be held at St. William's Church, Tewksbury, MA at 11:30 am on January 13, 2015. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cabrillo College Foundation/Stroke and Disability Learning Center at 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos, CA 95003 in honor of David's Choir Class.
