POULIN, Constance Root 85, of St. Petersburg, and Portland, ME, moved to a better world on Jan. 14, 2011, when she died at St. Petersburg General Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Calais, ME on July 17, 1926, daughter of Edwin H. Root and Pauline H. Olssen. She received her early education in the public schools of Calais, Augusta and Winthrop, ME, graduating from Winthrop High School in 1944. She later attended and graduated from Jackson College of Tufts University, Medford, MA, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was later employed as a language and history teacher at Rockland High School, Rockland, ME and Webster Junior High School, Auburn, ME. In 1951, she married Major Arthur A. Poulin, Fort Devens, MA for a marriage of 61 years of love and adventure. She was then employed by the U.S. Army occupation of Germany at the Palace of Justice, Nuremburg, Germany, site of the War Crimes Trials. After returning to the United States, she resided in Arlington, MS, Washington, D.C., Burlington, VT and Cumberland Center, ME, where her husband was assigned as a U.S. Immigration Officer. She was a member of the Patience Stanley-Mary Kelton Dummer Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Augusta, ME, the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies of the Elks, Women of the Moose and the Humane Society. She is survived by her daughters Katrina P. Lane and husband Fred of Gulfport, MS, Stacia P. Doherty and husband William of Mayport, FL; granddaughter Britta Doherty, Atlantic Beach; sister-in-law Dr. Muriel A. Poulin, Springvale, ME; brothers-in-law Robert J. Poulin and spouse Margaret of York Beach, ME, Paul L. Poulin of Kezar Falls, ME, and several nieces and nephews. Internment is planned for the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Springvale, ME, in the spring. Arrangements are by the Nation Cremation Society, Clearwater.
