Avis de décès de Constance-Marie Lestage

Constance Marie Lestage, 74 WINDHAM -- Constance (Connie) Marie (Gallupe) Lestage, 74, of Anthoine Rd., Windham, died unexpectedly at her home after she courageously conquered her battle with lung cancer. She was married to Maurice Lestage for over 25 years and they raised seven children together. She was born in Blaine, the daughter of Ruel and Cleo (Corey) Gallupe and attended Portland schools. Mom set an example for her seven children with her strong work ethic and value for education. She was valedictorian in junior high school. , she attended USM, graduated from SMTC in nursing, and Golden School of Beauty as a Beautician. She started working at the age of 15 at the Roma Cafe, went on to Universal Walkins, Nissen Bakery, Fairchilds, and various hair salons and nursing homes. She also owned and operated the Crossroads Motel and Restaurant. She loved people, but most of all she loved and cared for her family. She was always willing to help those in need. Mom could not turn her back on anyone. Our home was a place of refuge for many. Anyone that knew Mom could count on her, from having a place to stay to offering comfort; this was her legacy. Often, as a family, we would sit around the kitchen table and listen to Mom's stories of home. She would always say 'there was no better life than growing up in Aroostock County' as she called 'God's Country.' One of our fondest memories was spending time at 'camp'. Mom literally 'packed the house,' it would take Dad a good full day just getting the stuff to camp. She loved spending time with her children and entertaining friends. Music was a huge part of her life. She loved playing the guitar and singing to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed horse racing, so much to the point of owning and racing her own. Later in life Mom enjoyed her puzzles, painting, gardening, and playing games on the computer. She was predeceased by both parents; a son Joseph Lestage; sisters Sonya Deprez and Bonnie Knight, brother Thomas Gallupe; and her cat Molly. She is survived by daughters Sonya Dobson, Christine Holbrook and husband Robert, and Cleo Lestage, all of Windham, sons Maurice Lestage Jr. and wife Channery of Portland, Thomas Lestage and wife Ute of Westbrook, and William Lestage and wife Starr of Buxton; her grandchildren Stephen, Amy and Christopher, Jessica and David, Roberta and Maurice III, Jeremy, Christina and Katie, and Tobie; and great-grandchildren Stephen, Wyatt and Hunter, Natasha, Dana-Michelle and Noah, Isabella and Olivia, Quinten, and Evelyn. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Westbrook. For on line condolences please go to www.blaisandhayfuneralhome. com Constance Marie Lestage
