->HARTLAND -- Clarence Melvin Webber of Hartland, age 73, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit in Waterville.He was born March 18, 1934, the son of Lyral and Florence (Parsons) Webber. He was the eldest of eight children and graduated from Hartland Academy in 1952. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. Clarence was a member of the Steven McCormick Post 141 American Legion. After returning from the service, he was employed by Irving Tanning Company for 41 years. He was a registered Maine Guide and knew local hunting and fishing spots like the back of his hand. He was a harness racing enthusiast, betting on the drivers rather than any particular horse.Clarence is survived by his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Webber; sons, Paul Vigue and his wife, Sherry, of Hartland, and Jeff Vigue and his wife, Camille, of Washington State; daughters, Elaine Weese of Skowhegan, and Carla "Webber" Tibbetts and her husband, Joseph, of Dexter. Clarence will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, P.J. Vigue, Janelle Vigue, Emily Vigue, Alex Vigue, Chad Weese, Jacob Weese, Parker Tibbetts, and Cole Tibbetts. He is also survived by a brother, John Webber, and his wife, Teri, of Benton; sisters, Carol Hartley of Connecticut, Paula O'Connor and her husband, Mike, of Pittsfield, Judy Cross and her husband, Carl, of Hartland, Christine Kelso of Harmony, and Sandra Lovejoy of Stetson; sister-in-law, Lucille Webber of Poland; and a close friend, Randy Morrison. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Darrell Webber.Many will miss him and his close community ties. Those who knew him knew he would help anyone any way he could.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland.In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the American Legion Post No. 141, Main Street, Hartland, ME 04943.
