Chester Gerald Baird passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007, in The Baptist Home in Ozark. He was born December 21, 1912, in the Riverdale Community, near Ozark, the son of Lewis Millard and Susan Maria (Couts) Baird. On June 3, 1939, he married Anna Fern Ramsey. Mr. Baird retired from General Electric in Ontario, Calif., in 1973. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ozark, Mo. Mr. Baird enjoyed gardening, reading, and baking bread, pies and cookies. Survivors include his wife, Anna Baird, Ozark; two daughters, Wanda Hartung and husband, John, Belton, Mo., and Paula Maxheimer and husband, William, Rogersville, Mo.; four grandchildren, Philip Hartung and wife, Jeannette, Robert Powell II and wife, Rose, William Maxheimer II, and Gary Powell and wife, Leanne; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Smith Cemetery with Pastors Jim Jeffries, Troy Rhoden and Gary Merkle officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Baptist Home in Ozark.
