<!-- FH = Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel -->Cheryl Stephens DavisCheryl Stephens Davis, age 55, passed away March 28, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1955 in Xenia, Ohio to Edward (deceased) and Naomi Stephens. She graduated from Xenia High School in 1973.Shortly after graduation, Cheryl moved to Florida where she met the love of her life, Jack, and they were married July 16, 1977 at Cherry Point in Devil's Lake, Mich. Cheryl and Jack have called Tallahassee, Fla. home for nearly 30 years. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and friend who believed in family above all else. Cheryl's outgoing and infectious personality always lit up a room. She lived by the mantra "the world is your oyster" and pursued life with a bold enthusiasm that could rarely be matched. In a world full of too many dull ants she was a welcomed grasshopper. Cheryl is survived by her mother Naomi Stephens of Xenia, Ohio; husband of 34 years, Jack Davis; and her children, Aaron Davis and his wife Jennifer of Chicago, and Adrianne Johnson and her husband Tom of Tallahassee, Fla.; her brothers Gary Stephens and his wife Doris of Lake Charles, La., and Greg Stephens of Xenia, Ohio; her grandchild due September 2011; and an extended network of family and friends. Cheryl was best known as "Momma D" to members of the 1996-2000 Leon High School crew team where she served as regatta trip coordinator. She quickly assumed the role of team mom and group confidante, a position she treasured. On many an afternoon you'd find her serving lunch or her famous almond bread to a dozen crew kids. Cheryl loved spending time with her loved ones, traveling - especially to Michigan to visit Cherry Point, garage sale'ing with her closest friends, creating fused glass, and taking advantage of life's everyday adventures. A celebration service of Cheryl's life will be held at Faith Presbyterian, 2200 N. Meridian Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32303 at 3 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011.Immediately following the service, a Cheryl-style reception will be held at Chez Pierre, 1215 Thomasville Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32303, at 4-6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. In Cheryl's honor her family and friends are participating in the American Brain Tumor Association's "Path to Progress" walk held in Chicago May 14, 2011.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to support "Momma D's Crew" at http://tinyurl.com/RaceForMommaD or contributions may be mailed to: American Brain Tumor Association, Path to Progress - "Momma D's Crew," 2720 River Rd., Ste 146, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
