Charles Leslie Watkins, 74, of Plumfield passed away at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was born in Plumfield on April 18, 1937 to Leslie Watkins and Vivian Lee (Welch) Watkins. He is survived by all of his children, Tonya Holt and husband, Brent of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Charles E. "Chuck" Watkins and wife, Lori of Plumfield, Roy Watkins of Huttig, Arkansas, Tamie Sheppard and husband, Louis Sheppard III, of Zeigler and Tracy Watkins last known of Phoenix, Arizona; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. four sisters, Nadine Raynor, Joyce Davies of Herrin, Lillian Ferketitch of Plumfield and Lawana Lockard of Marion. He leaves behind untold numbers of friends and coworkers from over the years whom he helped at a moments notice. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandson. He was a member of the Family Church of God in Zeigler. A graveside service was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road with Pastor Denny Bush officiating. There was no visitation. Flowers or monetary donations may be made to the Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
