The summer home Charles purchased in Stanley Bridge, P.E.I. became his retirement home in the late nineties. His Florida condo became his haven in the cold Canadian winter months. Charles was an avid tennis player and enjoyed a good game of golf. He was a world traveler circling the globe many times over. He had a large circle of friends, some of whom accompanied him on these journeys. He entertained family and friends lavishly over the years in all of his three homes. Charles became a very good cook excelling in his Lebanese cuisine but he dabbled in all cuisines. In his later years Charles became a very good duplicate bridge player. He also took piano lessons and became a very proficient piano player. While in Ottawa he was actively involved with the Ottawa chapter of the University of Saskatchewan Alumni.
