HAWKINS, CHARLES EDWARD "CHARLIE,"69, died Monday at his home after a long illness. He was a native of Kessinger, KY, was a member of the First Pleasure Ridge Park High School graduation class and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during Vietnam. He retired from Reynolds Metals after 25 years, he also served as Aluminum Workers International Union shop steward. He was a Mason and a retired deputy sherrif, an avid hunter and a proud member of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the NRA. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Bonnie Gammons Hawkins; his daughter, Gina Louise Burkey (Ralph "Pete"); his son, Charles Christopher Hawkins (Jacqueline); sister, Marie Campbell; brother, Doug Hawkins, and four grandchildren. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Friday, Ratterman Grand Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Rd., with burial in Centerpoint Cemetery, Hart County. Friends may call 1-8 p.m. on Thursday. Expressions of sympathy to the National Wild Turkey Federation.
