Charles E. Wheelerformer Groton machine co. owner; 83 GROTON -- Charles E. Wheeler, 83, of Groton, died at Apple Valley Center on Dec. 20, 2011.He was born in Shirley on March 4, 1928, son of the late Milton and Elmina (Loavitt) Wheeler.He was a self employed talented machinist at his own Wheeler Machine Company in Groton, then later worked at two machine shops in Lowell, MA: Ideas Inc., and Trivac until he retired.Mr. Wheeler loved being outdoors, loved doing yard work, reading, and country music. In his earlier years, he bowled with his wife on candlepin bowling leagues and squared danced.He enjoyed watching all of the Boston Red Sox games with his wife and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his beagles that he had throughout the years. His most recent buddy, was a Jack Russell terrier, Peanut, who visited him about once a week at Apple Valley.His survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Taylor) Wheeler of Groton; his children, Cheryl Wheeler of Townsend, MA, Dianne Bissonette of Fredericksburg, VA, Patricia Winchenbach of Friendship, Maine, Dorothy Blake of CA, Robert Wheeler of Pomona, CA, Thomas Cann of FL, James Wheeler of Ayer, MA, and Susan (Cann) Almquist of MN, He has several grandchildren including Nina Decot, Corey Decot, Samantha Bissonette, Michael Bissonette, William Wheeler, Brian Wheeler, Charles Winchenbach and Laura Wheeler; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Corbett, Lily Winchenbach, and Brennan Winchenbach.WHEELER -- Funeral Services will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton, MA on Wednesday, December 28, at 1 pm. Visiting Hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Burial at Groton Cemetery, Groton.Please see www.badgerfuneral.com
