PELHAM - Charles E. Sargent, 86, died Aug. 29, 2011, in Derry. He was born on May 1, 1925, in Andover, Mass., the son of Ross E. and Adele (Deveau) Sargent. He worked for a telephone company in various capacities and retired in 1984 as a central office design supervisor with 32 years of service. He enjoyed travel with family and friends, skiing, golf and computers. He had a wide range of interests over the years that included woodworking, following Grand Prix and sports car racing, participating as a navigator in sports car rallies. He earned a private pilot's license, enjoyed growing grapes and making wine, and repairing antique clocks. In addition to his wife, Nancy (Melendy), he is survived by his son, Charles R. Sargent and wife, Robin, of Deerfield; three grandchildren, Charles and Rebecca of Deerfield, and Derek of Manchester; his son, Michael, of Nevada; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Sargent of Tewksbury, Mass.; her two children, Ross of Pelham, and Robin (Sargent) Murch of Dunstable, Mass.; and many cousins. . SERVICES: An hour of gathering is Friday, Sept. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed immediately by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., in Manchester.
