Charles E. "Chuck" Faulkner, 65, Columbus, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Faulkner graduated from Columbus High School in 1961 and from Purdue University in 1966 with a degree in industrial engineering, and he had four years with ROTC at Purdue. He retired from Cummins Engine Company as an engineer. He was a member of Bartholomew County Humane Society. He served as captain in the Army serving in Vietnam from 1966-1970 and he received a Bronze Star. He loved woodworking and traveling and he enjoyed Purdue games. The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses, family and friends for their love and support. Born April 24, 1943, in Middlesboro, Ky., he was the son of Walter E. "Ed" and Eula Gray England Faulkner, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 25, 1980, in Columbus, he married Cheryl K. Charlton, who survives. Other survivors include sister, June (William) Markham, Columbus; nine nieces; three nephews; eight great-nieces; six great-nephews; and four great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, James M., Alva R. and William C. Faulkner. Pastor Bryan E. Solomon will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel, Pearl Street, Columbus. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Austin, with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana or Bartholomew County Humane Society. www.mem.com
