Charles H. Davis, 87, of Greenville, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.Born on Feb. 15, 1918, in Greenville, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Ruby Wiggins Davis and was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hattie Reeps Davis, in 1994. Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II, and retired from Singer Corp. with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Ham Radio clubs and attended Overbrook Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his family.Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 20, 2006, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Woodlawn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dale Sutton. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Mr. Davis' family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Greenville Memorial Hospital and Dr. Gundi for the wonderful care that was given.Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC 29605.Woodlawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
