Oct. 16, 1916 - March 13, 2012 Charles Clunas was born in Sandon, B.C. He spent his childhood in Nelson then, in the 20's, the family moved to Vancouver where, after working a few years in Ocean Falls, he joined his father and his brother Ken in the hotel business. After serving as a signalman in Italy during WW II, he returned from Europe and settled with his new bride Eileen into their log home in West Vancouver where, until Eileen's passing last June, they shared treasured years with their family and friends. Charlie was a most convivial acquaintance, a reliable tennis partner, a tireless open-water swimmer, a faithful friend, and an awesome "Poppa". And he was a man of uncommon generosity. Two of his favoured charities were The Lions Gate Hospital and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. He will be remembered dearly by his children Sheila Johnston (David), Ken (Michelle), Laurene Nowak (Alain) and Charles (Gillian); his grandchildren Sean (Stephanie), Devin (Sabrina), Heather, Scott, Micaela (Lee), Brock (Kathy), Charlie, Emily, Emma (Mitch), Madeleine (Tim), and Hannah (Spencer); and his great-grandchildren Kael, Nicholas and Hilah. As requested by Charlie, there will not be a service.
