Reeves, CatherineDec. 17, 1922 - Nov. 8, 2008Catherine Reeves, 85, Bradenton died Nov. 8, 2008.Arrangements are being handled by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory, 26th Street Chapel. Catherine "Kitty" Reeves, Bradenton, died peacefully Nov. 8, 2008, with her family by her side, due to complications resulting from a sudden heart attack. She is survived by her husband, Thomas T. Reeves Sr., and was the proud and loving mother of seven children; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Catherine came to this country from Calabria, Italy and became a U.S. citizen after going through Ellis Island. She grew up in Paulsboro, N.J., where she completed her education, and then went to work for Gimbel's Department Store in Philadelphia, where she meet her husband of 64 years in 1942. After marrying her newly enlisted G.I., she went to work for the World War II war effort at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Following the war, she traveled with three young children from Philadelphia by train and steamship to Tokyo, Japan, to join her Army husband during the post-war reconstruction effort. After returning to the states, she moved with her family back to Paulsboro, N.J. Then, over the next 52 years, her journey took her to Meriden, Conn., Milford, Conn., Stone Mountain, Ga., and finally, for the past 27 years, to Bradenton.She enjoyed her golf, greyhounds and the Red Barn Flea Market, where she made many friends, as well as the many visits from her family up north.
