EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, June 15, 2006 at University Hospital, Mrs. Catherine B. Edwards, 89, wife of the late Wallace Edgar Edwards and daughter of the late William Frederick Belch and Lillian Bilbrough Belch. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Hopewell, VA, where she spent most of her life. She resided at Brandon Wilde in Augusta for the past 8 years. She was an active member and past Worthy Matron of the Adah #7 Chapter of the Eastern Star in Hopewell and held the State Office of Grand Marshall. She was a director of the Eastern States Seniors Golf Association and along with her husband, Wally, organized and administered nearly 100 tournaments. Mrs. Edwards was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hopewell, VA where she was very active with the Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Hopewell Women's Club. She enjoyed reading, golf, swimming and travel. Mrs. Edwards was very active with Brandon Wilde's newsletter, POTPOURRI, and she helped Chaplain Etheredge there with the Vespers Program. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her sons, Dr. Wallace S. Edwards of Augusta and Capt. (US Navy) Gary W. Edwards of Chesapeake, VA. Memorial services were held at Brandon Wilde with Rev. Ron Etheredge officiating. Interment will be in the Merchants Hope Church Cemetery, Prince George, VA.
