WHITE, CHARLES WILLIAM - age 77, of Sweetwater, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at 10:30 p.m. at his home with his family by his side. Mr. White was born on January 14, 1937, in Kingston, Tennessee, to the late Paul White and the late Lily Adcox White. Mr. White was ordained as a deacon in 1980 and has served in a number of churches. He is now a member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ten Mile. Charles was a gifted craftsman and enjoyed not one but multiple careers. These ranged from carpenter to cabinet maker, fisherman, house mover, mason, and many other trades with a wide range of abilities. What he valued most however was when he accepted the Lord at 40 years of age. Along with his family he recreated his life and spent the rest of his days serving God. He was an honorable man who dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim White and Rev. Elmer Thomas; sister, Nora Mae "Doodle" Queener; and great grandson, Bryce Owings. He will be missed in this life by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann Johnson White; children, Brenda White Bradshaw and husband, Larry of Loudon, Paul "Yogi" White and wife, Phyliss of Athens, Charles William White, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Knoxville, and Shirley "Cissie" White Hunt and husband, Rick of Sweetwater; son-in-law, Carliss Owings of Loudon; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; brothers, Robert White, Eldon Thomas, Martin Thomas and Paul Thomas; sister, Pauline Davis; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Amedysis Hospice, their friends and caregivers who offered their generous love and excellent care during his illness. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13th, at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Greene and Rev. Ronnie Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in the Loudon Co. Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to make donations may give to the family to help with funeral expenses.
