Bertha H. Jackson, formerly Bertha Heffers, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in West Orange, N.J. She was 93 years old. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston, N.J. Please visit www.bernheimapterkreitzman.com for more information. Bertha was born on April 27, 1919, in New York, N.Y. An avid New York Yankees fan, she lived and worked in Roselle, N.J. Bertha is remembered for her devotion to the community and for walking three generations of elementary school children for the Roselle Police Department for over 30 years. Predeceased by her husbands, Joseph Heffers (West Wyoming, Pa.) and Irving Jackson (Linden, N.J.), she is survived by her son, Gary Heffers and his wife, Anna Lacitignola-Heffers of West Orange, N.J.; and nephew, Richard Diamond. Mrs. Jackson was also great- aunt to Sam Diamond of Houston, Texas. The family asks that you keep a loving memory of Bertha in your heart.
