Funeral services will be held today, Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange, N.J., at 8:30 a.m., then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange, for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, N.J. Visiting was held yesterday. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. Barry was born in Orange, N.J. He was a lifelong resident of West Orange and lived in the family home for his whole life. He was the fourth of five sons born to Robert E. Fahey and Dorothy Marie Fahey (nee Kent), both deceased. Barry attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School in West Orange and Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, N.J. He had a career as a retail salesman for Bonwit Teller, Stern's and Macy's department stores, retiring after more than 40 years of service. He loved to travel and visited places like Ireland, and Hollywood, where he visited Evelyn (Ward) Cassidy, a longtime neighbor in West Orange and mother of stage and screen star David Cassidy, who spent his early childhood in West Orange. He loved to draw pictures and was a gourmet cook. He was a devout Catholic and attended services regularly. He was a devoted and gentle, caring person, having taken over the burden of caring for his mother as she faded into dementia before her death in 2007. He never married. Barry leaves behind his four brothers, Robert A.; Richard and his wife, Angela; Retired Deputy Police Chief Ronald and his wife, Elizabeth (Betty), and P. Gregory and his wife, Barbara; aunt Clare Bradley, aunt Jackie Fahey, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace and "May the Good Lord take a likin' to him." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barry's name to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange, N.J. 07052.
