JACKSON _ Barry D. Captain Barry D. Jackson B.C.C.P. born December 3, 1943 passed away February 19, 2007 after a short and courageous battle with cancer, at home, peacefully, with his caring wife Catherine by his side. Predeceased by son Dean, December 20, 1988. Survived by his loving wife of 40 years Catherine, daughter Krista and devoted grandchildren Teghan, Madigan, and baby Furio, many friends and family. Having piloted many ships up and down the BC coast, his passion never waivered for his job and the sea. Barry was known for his wit, charm, generosity and strength. All who knew and loved him will miss Barry everyday. His role as "PaPa" was the most treasured and fulfilling part of his life; his grandchildren were the twinkle in his eyes. While Barry has embarked on his final journey, he lives on in our hearts. We believe the seas to be smooth and restful for you captain as you sail on with Dean and God. Catherine would like to gratefully acknowledge the kind and gracious support from Captain Gary Sinclair, hospice staff, especially Darshan and Judith for their loving care, and Dr. David Attwell. No service by request, however, a gathering will be held at a future date for family, friends, and peers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Liver Foundation in Barry's memory are gratefully appreciated.
