Barbara S. Quinn-Carr, 88, Venice, died Aug. 12, 2005. She was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Owosso, Mich., and retired to Venice in 1985. She was a medical social worker and became head of the Department of Social Work at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn., where she received several awards for her outstanding achievements. She earned degrees in home economics and French from St. Mary's College and earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Connecticut. She was president of the Venice Area Audubon Society, where she was active in developing its rookery and was recognized as their outstanding member in 1994. Survivors include her husband, John Earl; children Patrick Quinn and Laurie Kaman; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, with services to follow, at the Venice Chapel of Lemon Bay Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the educational programs of the Venice Area Audubon Society, P.O. Box 1381, Venice, FL 34284-1381.
