BARBARA P. NORTON - GAINESVILLE, Va. - Barbara Preston Norton died at home surrounded by family, Aug. 1, 2012, in Gainesville, Va., at the age of 82. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Thelma Kidder Preston and Paul F. Preston and went to grammar school in Newark, N.J. She attended high school and college in Burlington, where she graduated from the University of Vermont in 1951. She worked for the CIA for four years and resigned to raise her family in Fairfax, Va., with her husband, Donald Norton, who predeceased her on April 19, 2012. Her love of travel led her to a 20-year career as a travel consultant with agencies in Manassas, Va. and Reston, Va. She is survived by her three children, David and wife, Donna, of St. Louis, Mo., Carolyn and husband, Kenny, of Haymarket, Va., and Steven and wife, Laura, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Eric Wayne and spouse, Jaci, and great-grandson, Cole, and Barbara Gail and spouse, Joshua, and his daughter, Taylor; brother, Douglas and wife, Marcia, of Holt, Mich., and his son, Nathan.
