Arthur L. Johnson, age 92, of Brockton, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was born in Jamaica Plain, raised and educated in Boston public schools and was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School, Class of 1938. He had lived in Brockton for forty-nine years, previously in Quincy. Arthur was a layout designer for Sturtevant Westinghouse in Hyde Park for forty-four years and retired in 1982. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Metalsmith 3/c. He received the European African Middle Eastern Medal and the Amphibious Insignia. Arthur was a longtime active member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy. He taught Sunday School and had served on the church council. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed golf. Beloved husband for sixty-one years of Constance A. (Pearson) Johnson. Beloved father of Laura M. MacFeeley and her husband William of Fitchburg. Loving grandfather of Sheilagh Ruth MacFeeley of Cork, Ireland. Funeral services will be conducted at the Faith Lutheran Church, 201 Granite St., Quincy, Thursday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. Rev. Heidi Johnston will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers, Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, Wednesday, 4 - 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
