JOHNSON Arthur Johnson, 68, husband of Marjorie LaLond Johnson of Derby, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 5 (one day after his 45th wedding anniversary), surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 23, 1943 in Acushnet, Massachusetts to the late James and Elaine Johnson. He served in the United States Air Force after graduating from New Bedford Vocational High School and worked at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut for 40 years. His exceptional work ethic and leadership culminated in a highly respected position as the Senior Supervisor of the Presidential Executive Transport Fleet before his retirement in 2005. Art enjoyed his retirement by traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening (especially his rose bushes and vegetable garden), woodworking, building model boats, photography and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Randall Johnson, Denise Mancini and her fiancé James Shull, Wendy DeCarlo and her husband Robert, Cherie Brewster and her husband Dan, as well as seven grandchildren: Ashley, Samantha, Jenifer, Alec, Christopher, Natalie and Jackson. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Daniel Johnson of California, Diane Medeiros and Thomas Johnson of Massachusetts, Christine Croteau, Maurice Johnson and Ralph Johnson of New Hampshire, Janice Butler of Florida, Helen Brown of Virginia and dozens of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers James, Jr and Harry and his nephew Jesse Guerra. Calling hours will be at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Connecticut on Wednesday, June 8 between 4 and 8 pm, and a service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 9 at 10:00 am.
