Anna Ruth Chapman, 95, formerly of Glenhurst Drive, Oberlin, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 in Staunton, Virginia, where she has lived since January 2014. Born in Union City, Indiana on September 18, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Romeiser. She was married to the late Donald W. Chapman, also of Union City, in 1941.Anna graduated from Ball State University and Baldwin Wallace College. From 1959 to 1979, she taught in all elementary schools in Oberlin. She was a longtime member of the First Church in Oberlin, as well as Senior Forum, 19th Century Club, and Plum Creek Garden Club. Anna was a loving mother and grandmother to all her family. She enjoyed growing flowers, hiking the Lorain County park trails, riding her bike, and held a special place in her heart for young children. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; and her son, Richard Bruce Chapman in 1981. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Partridge and her husband Robert of Waynesboro, Virginia; a son, Thomas Chapman and his wife Virginia of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Anne Chapman of La Jolla, California. Anna is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Amelia Chapman, John Chapman, Megan Partridge Stauffer, Heather Partridge Warley, Donald R. Chapman, and Alessandro Chapman; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Oberlin Heritage Center, P.O. Box 455, Oberlin, Ohio 44074, or the Children's programs at Trinity Lutheran Chruch.A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1470 Indiana 28, Union City, IN 47390.
