Tanner, Ann, passed peacefully on September 13, 2009 in Santa Monica, CA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Marvin; daughter, Alyson; son-in-law, Dr. Ronald Podell; and grandchildren, Josh and Alex; son Neil (deceased 11/92). Ann was born in Queens Village, NY, on September 26, 1921. She met Marvin Tanner as a freshman at NYU. After graduation in 1943 she and Marvin married. Marvin was a WWII Air Force Pilot; and taught high school PE. She coached HS sports teams until the end of the war. Ann and Marvin were reunited after Marvin was released from a German POW camp. They resided in Queens Village, NY, and started their family. Family relocated to Miami in 1954 where Ann was a substitute teacher. They moved to Coral Gables in 1961. Ann's love for sports continued and she played tennis weekly with the Cocount Grove group and played golf with Marvin. Ann returned to school and studied Art History in the 1970's this lead to becoming a docent and head librarian at the Lowe Art Museum. She and Marvin traveled extensively after the children were grown and re-located to Pompano Beach, FL, in 1984 for adult leisure living. Ann became ill in 2008; she and Marvin moved to Santa Monica, near Alyson. No formal Funeral or Memorial. Her ashes will return to Pompano Beach, FL, upon Marvin's death, so they may be reunited with Neil in an existing family plot. She will be missed.
