LUNENBURG -- Alphonse L. Thibault, 85, of 36 Whalom Road, died Wednesday evening, March 5, in the Hillcrest Nursing Center, Fitchburg, after an illness.He was born on July 3, 1917, in Sherbrooke, Canada, the son of Oscar and Mary-Rose (Messier) Thibault and lived in Lunenburg most of his life.Mr. Thibault worked for the former H.V. Lindberg of Fitchburg for more than 30 years and had worked in the custodial staff for the Lunenburg School Department for more than 25 years. He was an auxiliary police officer for the town of Lunenburg.He was a life member of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks No. 847 and a life member of the South End National Club in Fitchburg. He was also a member of St. Boniface Church in Lunenburg.Mr. Thibault is survived by one son, Richard A. Thibault of Gardner; one daughter, Patricia A. Garneau, also of Gardner; one granddaughter, Melissa A. Garneau of Gardner; his longtime friend and companion, with whom he lived, Charlotte Blanck; and several nieces and nephews. His wife of 50 years, Mary S. (Gingras) Thibault, died in 1990. He was predeceased by five brothers.THIBAULT -- On March 5, Alphonse L. Thibault, 85, of Lunenburg. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. in the Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m.
