JONES, Allan Leonard - Passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Belleville General Hospital on Friday, August 19, 2011 in his 91st year. Beloved and devoted husband to Catherine for 65 years. Loving father of Steve (Ann Marie) and Doug. Cherished Grandpa to Stefanie (Andrew), Lyndsey, Andrew and Ali. Adoring great-grandpa to Julia and Ian. Allan will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews in both the Jones and Christie families. Allan and Catherine moved from Toronto to Port Credit in 1955 and it was there that they raised their two sons. Allan was a dedicated educator who taught with both the Toronto and the Peel Boards of Education from which he retired as a Principal in 1977. Allan and Catherine moved to Streetsville in 1983 where they enjoyed the company of their neighbors and their church community. Allan's happiest times were spent with his family at the collage he built on Lake Bernard in Sundridge, Ontario. His faith, strength of character and love for Catherine and his family were the cornerstones of his life. He was the truest example of how God wants us to live our lives. A funeral service will be held at Streetsville United Church on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. wth visitation at the church one hour prior. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision Canada for the Horn of Africa Drought Relief.
