FARRELL _ Alfred George August 30, 1916 - February 12, 2009 Loving husband of Dorothy, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at the Strathmore Hospital. Alfred was born in Carstairs; lived and farmed there until he joined the Canadian Army in August of 1940. He was in the service until October of 1945, serving three of those years in Europe. After the war he farmed for a number of years on the family farm and moved to Calgary in 1952. Alf and Dorothy were married in July of 1956. They moved to the Lodge in Strathmore in 2005. Alfred is predeceased by parents, Percy and Helga, sister Vera (Harold) and brothers Vernon (Olive) and Alvin (Vera). He is survived by sisters Jean (Earl), Irene (Don), Helen (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend deepest appreciation to Dr. Fanning and the nurses and caregivers at the Strathmore Hospital for their exemplary care of Alfred during his last days. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Strathmore General Hospital (200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1J9) or to the charity of your choice.
