August 21, 2012 Alfred E. Lee, 84, passed away August 21, 2012, in Las Vegas, where he and his wife Mary had retired in 2004 after living many years in Liverpool, NY. Alfred was a loving, reliable and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Alfred was born in Camillus, NY, on April 13, 1928, to Edward and Thelma McCue Lee, and he graduated from Central High School in Syracuse in 1945. After graduation, Alfred enlisted in the Army, becoming a second lieutenant at 18 and serving with the Corps of Engineers in Korea until 1948. He continued serving in the Army Reserves until 1953. Alfred attended Rutgers University and graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1951. On February 17, 1951, he and Mary Jean See were married at Dewitt Community Church, where the couple remained members for many years. Al was a Toastmaster, a member of the Liverpool Yacht Club and a 52-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Liverpool as well as a member of the Knights Templar. Alfred worked as an electrical engineer at Douglas Aircraft, General Electric, Ryerson Associates and Burlingame Associates and was co-owner of Labtronics, Inc., and owner of Syronics, Inc. During his lifetime, he was an avid skier, boater, wind surfer, roller skater and golfer. He loved to travel and explore and particularly enjoyed time spent in the Thousand Islands area of the St. Lawrence River. In the past few years, Alfred had become a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Summerlin, Las Vegas. Alfred is survived by his wife, Mary Lee of Las Vegas; sister, Gerry Burns of Liverpool; and sister-in-law, Norma Lee of San Jose, CA. His brother, Richard Lee, and brother-in-law, George Burns, predeceased him. Alfred will be greatly missed by his four children, Rev. Patricia Walz of Baldwinsville and Dexter, NY, Daniel Lee of Las Vegas, Nancy Sexton of Marlborough, MA, and Dr. David Lee of Stillwater, MN, as well as his 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Calling hour will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, at Dewitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. E. in Dewitt. Masonic and memorial services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery in the town of Lysander following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dean's Fund, College of Engineering, 820 Comstock Ave., Room 214, Syracuse, NY 13244. Arrangements by Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
