PATTERSON _ Alexander (Alick). The family of Alick sadly announce his sudden death on September 2, 2006. Born in Hawick, Scotland on November 26, 1931, Alick emigrated to Canada in 1952. In 1954, he called for his fiance, Maureen Renwick in Scotland, to join him and they got married in Guelph, Ontario as soon as Maureen disembarked from her Transatlantic journey and then settled in Vancouver. Alick dedicated 30 years of his working life to the Vancouver School Board, rising from junior accounting clerk to Secretary Treasurer. Alick "retired" from the Board in 1991 and immediately commenced his second career as a Travel and Cruise Consultant for North South Travel. Alick also lent his financial expertise in a volunteer capacity for the Vancouver Sea Festival and the Vancouver Rowing Club. Over the years, Alick and Maureen had great enjoyment with their family, traveling the world, parties in the Patterson Arms 1 and 2, and all that Vancouver has to offer. Alick had some of the best buddies in the world and will be missed at the pub and on the Sunday morning Stanley Park walks. Maureen died in December, 2005 and Alick missed her immensely. Alick's family is deeply saddened by their loss and he leaves behind daughters Sandra Noel (Tim) and Ailsa Forsgren (Don), grandchildren Kirsten, Jillian, Taylor, and Andrew, and sister Margaret Mabon in Hawick, Scotland. Alick's famous quote was "DO IT NOW" and he lived vigorously by that motto. He would ask that all of his friends do the same, have a beer, and remember the good times. A gathering will be held to celebrate his life on Tuesday, September 12th at 2:00 pm at the Vancouver Rowing Club.
