Abbie Beatrice Ward, 84, passed away Nov. 20, 2011, in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.She was born on Aug. 10, 1927, to James Malcolm and Alma E. (Brown) McLean. She was a Mormon by faith and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, DeFuniak Springs Ward, where she was a faithful member for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Washington (J.W.) Ward; her mother and father; four brothers, John Reuben McLean, James Wilson McLean, Jett Hubert McLean and Joe Ned McLean Sr.; and one great-grandchild, Cody John-Michael Rice. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She lived her life as an example to others - showing others how to be strong in their convictions, to be compassionate, and always help those in need. She raised her children and grandchildren to always follow her example. Her legacy includes the love and values she instilled into her children and grandchildren.She is survived by three daughters, Anne Honish and her husband, Michael, Shirley Ward, and Susan Anderson and her husband, Joe, all of DeFuniak Springs; her sister, Flora B. Bricker and husband, Bill, of DeFuniak Springs; sister-in-law, Katie Lynn McLean (widow of Joe Ned McLean Sr.); five grandchildren, Joseph Honish, Donna Honish, Jimmy Fannin, Denise Rodgers and Bryan Anderson; 15 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and respected by all.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in DeFuniak Springs with Elder Andy Howard and Elder Wayne Linke officiating.
