AMY WOODBURY PATTERSON SOUTH BURLINGTON /BRIDPORT - Amy W. Patterson, 94, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Shrewsbury, Vt. on Nov. 19, 1914, the daughter of George A. and Blanche M. (LaFrance) Woodbury. Amy was a graduate of Middlebury High School, class of 1932, and Burlington Business College, class of 1934. She retired from Chittenden Bank on Dec. 14, 1984, after 41 years of service. In January 1949, she became the first female bank Officer in the State of Vermont. She advanced on to the position of Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary. Amy was an avid gardener and collector of fine china. She was kind, generous and altruistic. She was a member of the Bridport Historical Society, the Order of the Eastern Star Temple Chapter 75, the Burlington Business and Professional Women's Club and she was the oldest living member of the Congregational Church of Bridport. Amy's family thanks her devoted caregivers, including the Cabot Care staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home. Special thanks to her live-in caregiver Amy Niquette whose loving care allowed Amy to live in her own home for the last two years. Amy is survived by her sister-in-law Emilie Woodbury; two nieces, Donna Douglas and her husband Bruce and Linda LaRoche; great-grandnieces, Julie Rutz, Lisa LaRoche and Leslie Bell and her husband Fred; greatgrandnephews, Eric Rutz and his wife Lisa, George Reynolds and his wife Lynn, Brian LaRoche, Raymond LaRoche and his wife Kari. She is also survived by many loving great-great-grandnieces and great-greatgrandnephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John G. Patterson who died on Oct. 17, 1991; her two brothers, M. Glynn Woodbury and Robert M. Woodbury; two sisters, J. Elizabeth Woodbury and R. Irene Chandler; and a dear sister-in-law Mary Woodbury. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Bridport Congregational Church in Bridport, Vt. Graveside with committal services and burial to follow in the Bridport Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Bridport Congregational Church, P.O. Box 55, Bridport, VT 05734.
